Protect your privacy with 2-factor authentication

Some people find this annoying, but for others it provides an important layer of protection: two-factor authentication when logging in to important online accounts. After you enter your password, you are asked for an additional code that is sent to you each time. You probably already know this from many other web services.

The reason for this is simple: If your password is cracked, hackers cannot access your data unless they enter the correct numeric code that is requested after the password is entered. At Meminto, we have decided to send you the code by email.

⚠️ A quick note about passwords. It's really important to make sure that the password for your email account is different from your Meminto password.

Why secure your Meminto account using 2FA?

The so-called "grandchild scam" is becoming increasingly common. Criminals collect important, private information about their victims, then call them and often steal thousands of dollars. At Meminto, we want to keep your life and memories safe, not give them away. We hope that our commitment to security is worth the extra step for you.

How to enable 2-factor authentication

Important: This step will only work if you are using a browser.

Profile & Settings > Security: Enable the setting here

Click "Save Changes" to confirm. Log out of your account and log back in. You should now see this screen:

Prompt for the code you received by email

Now check your mailbox and copy the numerical code you received into the field. If you are working on your own computer or tablet, activate the checkbox "Do not ask again in this browser for 10 days". This will allow you to log in for the next 10 days without having to enter the code again.

How to disable 2-factor authentication

If you do not want to use this extra layer of security, you can turn off two-factor authentication by following these steps:

Go to Profile & Settings > Security
Disable 2-factor authentication and check your email inbox afterward
Click on the button in the email to deactivate this security setting
You will receive a confirmation email. From now on, you don't need to enter this code when you log in.

We recommend enabling 2-factor authentication.
