Quick Smartphone Tour of the Meminto App

With the Meminto Stories app, you can answer questions about your life by typing or recording your voice. You can also transcribe your recordings, edit your answers, add photos, and preview how your stories will look in your book.

Follow these steps to get started and create your book using the app.

Step 1: Install the Meminto Stories App

Open the App Store on your iPhone or the Google Play Store on your Android phone. Search for Meminto Stories, select the app, and tap Install or Get to download it.

Step 2: Open the App and Choose Sign-In

Once the installation is complete, open the app.

  • If you already have a Meminto account, select the Sign in option at the bottom of the screen.
  • If you're new to Meminto, select Create My Book to get started.

  • Enter the email address associated with your Meminto account and tap Send Magic Link.
  • Open your email inbox, find the message from Meminto, and tap Log me in to access your account.

Step 4: Allow Notifications

  • When prompted, allow notifications from the app. This helps you receive new story questions and reminders to continue working on your book.

Step 5: Choose a Question to Answer

  • Browse the questions by category and tap any question card you want to answer.
  • You don't have to follow a specific order. Choose whichever questions you'd like to answer first and build your book at your own pace.

Step 6: Start an Audio Response

  • If you'd rather speak than type, you can record your answers directly in the app.
  • Tap the microphone icon in the bottom toolbar to start an audio response. Depending on the available options, you can record a new answer or upload an existing audio file from your gallery.

Step 7: Record Your Story

Tap the microphone button to begin recording and speak your answer.

  • Tap Pause if you need a break.
  • Tap Resume when you're ready to continue.

Take your time and share your story in your own words.

Step 8: Finish the Recording and Remove the Empty Text Block

When you've finished speaking, tap the red Stop button to save your recording.

If there's an empty text paragraph above the audio recording that you no longer need, open the paragraph's options menu and select the delete option.

Step 9: Preview How the Page Will Look

  • Switch to the Layout section and generate a preview of the page.

You'll see how the category, question, and audio recording appear on the page. The audio is represented by a QR code that readers can scan to listen to your recording in the printed book.

Step 10: Transcribe Your Recording if Needed

If you'd like to turn your spoken answer into written text, open the options menu for your audio recording and select Transcribe.

Choose the language used in your recording and confirm your selection.

Please note: Transcription uses credits from your Meminto account.

Step 11: Edit or Preserve Your Transcribed Text

Once the transcription is complete, you can review and improve the text.

You can edit it manually or use Meminto AI to:

  • Correct spelling and grammar.
  • Improve the writing.
  • Shorten or expand the text.
  • Translate the text into another language.

If you want to preserve your story exactly as you spoke it, you can leave the transcription unchanged.

Step 12: Return to Layout and Preview Again

  • After editing your text, save your changes and return to the Layout section.
  • Generate the preview again to see how your updated text and audio recording appear on the page.

Step 13: Continue With the Next Question

  • Return to the questions and select another one to answer.
  • You can alternate between typing and recording audio, allowing you to create your book one story at a time.

Step 14: Explore Media, Book Settings, and Credits

Use the bottom toolbar to access other areas of your book:

  • Media: Manage your photos and recordings.
  • Book settings: View or manage information about your book.
  • Profiles: Access profile-related options and add more credits when needed.

These sections help you manage your content and customize your book as you continue working on it.

Step 15: Review Your Table of Contents

  • Tap the Content button at the top of the screen to view your table of contents.
  • From here, you can open chapters, reorder questions, and review the stories you've written so far.

This is a helpful way to organize your book and keep track of your progress.

You're ready to start creating your book!

Take your time answering the questions, add photos whenever you'd like, and record your voice to preserve the sound of your memories. You can work through the questions at your own pace and return to your book whenever you're ready.
